Skradinski buk: The most famous waterfall in the park and a must-see first stop. The promenade leads through dense vegetation, streams and wooden bridges.

Šibenik is town in Northern Dalmatia, located at the mouth of the Krka River at the Adriatic Sea. It is the capital of Šibenik-Knin County and the oldest Croatian town on the Adriatic coast, mentioned for the first time in 1066 in a document written by King Petar Krešimir IV and therefore often called “Krešimir’s Town”. Šibenik has 2 UNESCO sites (St. James Cathedral and St. Nicholas Fortress) and that makes him unique in world, because only few cities in world have 2 UNESCO sites. The official status of a town assigned in the 13th century was also the main reason for the construction of its main symbol, the Cathedral of St. James, a celebrated UNESCO World Heritage Site. Šibenik is also often called “The City of Children”, as it has been hosting the renowned International Children’s Festival for almost 60 years.

Visiting four Šibenik fortresses – St. Michael’s, Barone, St. John’s and St. Nicholas – offers a truly distinctive experience.

Šibenik was also a filming location for Game of Thrones.

Itinerary

You will be picked up on your location
20 min drive to National Park Krka
2-3 hours in National Park Krka
20 min drive to Šibenik old town
We will begin an easy ride along the beautiful streets of Šibenik. Driver will tell you about history of Šibenik.Our first stop is Fortress Barone. Fortress is built 1646. on Vidakuša, hill above city. It was renovated 2016. and now offers visitors a digital tour through Šibenik history.
Next stop is St. John’s Fortress, biggest fortress in Šibenik. It is located on north hill above Šibenik Old Town. It was named after church dedicated to St, John the Baptist from 15th century. The fortress, together with Barone fortress was built, was constructed during the Ottoman atacks on Šibenik 1646. and 1647.
Next stop is Panoramic view in Šibenik bridge and Banj beach, where some scenes of HBO series „Games of Trones“ were filmed. On Šibenik bridge you can try local muscels and oysters with glass of local wine.
Our final stop is at the Cathedral of St. James (Jakov), unique monument of reinessance architecture, protected by UNESCO. It was constructed over a period of more than hundred years. Our final stop at the cathedral is perfect for a short walk through the pedestrian zone, allowing you to explore a part of Šibenik¨s rich history as well as experience the local lifestyle today.
